TF2 Outrage

Dante | 23 May 2009

So yea, looks like the Game Devs from Valve have tried to even things out a bit but for the first time in a while they have managed to upset the TF2 community on a rather large scale.

While we all knew Spies and Snipers were gonna become rampant for a week or so while people played them, we were fooled in that their achievements dont get you anything new! In fact you dont even have to play the class…the unlocks are completely random!

WTF!

So if you desperately want a new unlock…go spectate on a server and leave it for a day…because this game is ridiculous now and Valve had better change some things..

I SPENT AGES GETTING THE 22 ACHIEVEMENTS FOR THAT UBER SAW…GODDAMNIT VALVE!

EDIT: Valve explains the new unlock system

Thanks Kotaku :D

Yeh, I was a bit sussed when I found out. I’ve put in hours over the last year unlocking very upgrade, I just had the Scouts final upgrade left.

I think Valve wants the game to be more accessible, even though its going to left down the hardcore fans .. they just want more people to play the game, and since most find achievements a chore .. guess they thought implementing this would make it a lot easier on people.

Yea, I was miffed at how long it took to get the Ubersaw only to know that total noobs can get it just for playing…

Also read the edit, Valve did release details as to why and how the system works…

    Cool

    Future Goals:

    - Item trading. This is why you’re finding duplicates.

    - Giving players a method to influence the system so they can work directly toward getting specific items.

    - Adding more rare items like the hats.

I didn’t know you can find the same item again, but trading them sounds like a good idea. And finally some head gear, hopefully add to the gameplay rather than simply being cosmetic.
