Microsoft bans all downloads on xbox live for < 18 yo

Dante | 27 Jul 2009

Microsoft confirms that Xbox live users under the age of 18 can no longer download from xbox live.

Thats right…not only do we deal with ridiculous data caps, overcharged internet and section 92a, but now we have to contend with Microsoft and some ungodly dickhead corporation out there saying that if you are not 18 on xbox live, you cannot download ANY content regardless of how harmless it is.

Seriously, Im getting sick of New Zealands internet systems…it has potential for so much more…but we’re being kicked around.

Fuck you Microsoft, and fuck you yet-to-be-named-dickhead-corporation that pushed for this.

I believe it was based on the Australian internet that Microsoft did this – at least that’s what the article I read alluded to.
TBH I don’t give a flying rats. Parents can still buy the games for their kids regardless of the rating – this just stops the kids buying them themselves – well stealing mum and dad’s credit card to buy them. If I have to hear about another parent screaming on Campbell live or Close up about how their kid racked up a huge bill and it’s the evil company’s fault and not their lack of adequate sheep wrangling skills that’s to blame, then I’m going to commit video game violence. So a kid can’t buy a game that they can’t afford, boo fucking hoo. Maybe it will mean that the parents will take notice of what their kids are doing rather than letting the electronic nanny do everything. OMG they may have to actually have to do some of that parenting thing. What a shame. I’m not saying Microsoft is doing anything commendable, but I don’t see anything wrong with it. Their product, their rules.

I was simply outraged at this when i first found out you have to be 18+
to download content. I mean you have to be 18 to buy alhoacol but
18 to buy game add on’s? come on thats rediclous

BUT do not lose all hope there is a way around this simply make a free
silver account and make the age 18 and volioa you can download
any content and use it on your under 18 account.
    i hope this helped
